    Toronto—Ontario

302 twin turbo FORD

    686 HP

Vintage Chrome Reverse Wheels

This is how the Mustang looked like many moons ago. Kids were small and Mustang was fun to ride.

Then it came into some different times. The kids had grown up and Ron and Barb were in a completely different mood.

So one day Ron was in the mood and said:

 “How about some flames, baby?”

“Sure. As long they are PINK, my stud?” - replied Barb.

After a long night what happened next day, just Ron knows.

And their you go. This is the story about one nice Burgundy Mustang with PINK flames and how it remained a part of the family for more then 35 years.

After many years of spending nights cruising and some good times in late 2006, it was time to see if there was any rust on the car.

Well, what to say? We are sure that pictures are telling you more then anything.

This is where a 302 twin turbo was residing for many years, producing 686 HP on rear wheels. We will let you know what the refreshed 302 will do on dyno next time.

Front fenders were well shaken so we took them off.

Quarters are gone and you can see how the years of driving will impact the internal structure of the car.

Interior was not in better shape. Ron was a great help in removing all the parts and components.

Thanks, Ron.

Now it is time to get down to some serious business.

New fenders are on.

Rear quarters are fastened on but don't forget that the brand new inner fenders are in the works too. The old one’s were pretty bad, so we decided to add some structural  rigidity back to the car.

Then it was time to apply some “Z-Chrome”, to make this one of a kind Mustang  last  for many years to come.

“Z-Chrome” is high end auto body rust defender, sealer and  primer.

P.S. Here at “DNA Speed and Kustoms”, we  only use the highest quality products, that have proven quality and durability for all of our projects.

Custom hood scoop was installed on the hood and it looks great. Two openings on the back of the hood scoop are providing fresh air to the engine.

Primer time now. Body is straight, all the panels fit, the fenders are sitting right and the upgraded hood is matching the body lines.

We are ready to paint and show some of our best work to our customers and friends, Barb and Ron (in all due respect to Ron Junior, Rob and their families).

Paint time. This car is going to be painted in special “PPG Vibrance Collection - Ruby Slippers 3ct“ paint.

Car just came back from the spray boot.  The black base for the “Ruby Slippers” is on and we are ready to do some serious water sanding.

Finally we have our final coat of “Ruby Slippers 3ct“ applied.

So fair we have following paint applied:

                 - 2 coats of sealer

                 - 2 coats of black base for the “ Ruby Slippers”

                 - 6 coats of “Ruby Slippers” candy

So here they are.

Flames are on and they are superbly applied by Mark.

A bit of a nice history we have here: Mark originally applied first set of flames on this Mustang some 15 years ago. And that was his last flame job. Since then Mark pursued a different career and was not involved in the car business.

And what to say. Mark showed his mastery again. All smiling and in a full creative swing, this Mustang is getting that old zest thanks to old friendship between Ron and Mark.

Flames are masked and we are on our way back to spray boot. We are not wasting any time. The car is our focus and we are looking forward to painting the flames.

And yes again we are using “PPG Vibrance Collection”. This time it is “Rose Quartz Met bc” with extra silver pearl added.

And there it is, the final stage in the spray booth, four coats of top end clear. Barb told us to call her when flames are on and we did. Barb is very pleased and happy.

We overheard the following conversation that night at the shop:

“Flames are back, Ron. What are you doing tonight, my darling?”

Ron had a big grin next morning on his face (we are wondering why).

Oh my, the paint is fully on. It is beautiful, the sun is shining in Toronto and we can see all colors on the car. Burgundy, red, copper, green, black. Everything is shining and it grabs your attention from every angle.

Flames are nicely outlined and they are just  giving this car the distinction that made many people recognize and love it.

Mustang is back to its full shine and glory.

Many members of Toffoly family will enjoy this 1968 Mustang again. We had them all here at our shop and all the grand kids are looking forward to cruising at night with grandma and grandpa.

Some pictures don’t need words, they are just simply nice to look at  and enjoy the masterpiece created by painter Darryl Hodder.

This vehicle received “MILD RESTO” body restoration work. We completed this very nice 1968 Mustang within the set budget and time frame. Please review our restoration work further down this page.
